Mike Spicer, Consultant

PolicyDepartment

Mike was formerly the Director of Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce – a global network of over 100 British Chambers and business groups in the UK and overseas. He has occupied a number of senior roles in the organisation since he joined in 2011. He directed the BCC’s policy research and survey programme and represented the BCC externally on business policy and matters relating to local economic development.

Before coming to BCC, Mike spent over five years as an economist and in senior research and strategy roles at the East of England Development Agency (EEDA). He led EEDA’s strategy development work during the 2008/9 recession and oversaw the economic appraisals for multi-million pound projects with RDA and EU funding. Prior to EEDA, Mike worked as an economist and econometrician at the forecasting house Cambridge Econometrics and property services company Jones Lang LaSalle.

He has now set up PolicyDepartment – a consultancy that advises membership organisations on public policy.
