Maria O’Malley, Head of Membership Engagement and Development

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)

Maria is Head of Membership Engagement and Development at IOSH, the world’s largest and only chartered body for safety and health professionals, with over 47,000 members in every industry sector across 130 countries.

Maria’s focus is to put members’ interests at the heart of everything she does, ensuring they continue their professional development, achieve their career aspirations and deliver real value to their organisations. She is responsible for member engagement, IOSH’s global network of regional branches and professional standards.

Under IOSH’s ambitious five-year strategy, WORK 2022, Maria leads on initiatives that will enhance the occupational safety and health profession by developing competence, capability and skills. These include IOSH’s Future Leaders Programme for new and aspiring professionals, the creation of an innovative new CPD platform, boosting engagement with volunteer members and redeveloping IOSH’s membership offer to make it  more relevant and meaningful.

Maria has significant experience of working in the public service and non-profit sectors. Before arriving at IOSH in 2012, she held roles for several years in the NHS and in Canadian provincial and municipal governments.
