Andrew Pakes, Director of Communications & Research
Andrew leads Prospect’s advocacy, policy and engagement work where he is responsible for the union’s brand, marketing and membership for over 145,000 members across a diverse range of professions.
He joined Prospect in 2017 to deliver the organisation’s ambition to enter the digital age, including a major rebranding project following a merger with Bectu, the creative industries union.
A campaigner at heart, Andrew has over 20 years’ experience in strategic, in-house and consultancy roles. Starting out as President of the National Union of Students (NUS) where he led NUS’ work on tuition fees, Andrew has worked as a communications director, senior official in regional government and as a political advisor to Ministers and senior politicians.
Andrew is also a trustee of Stonewall where he is involved in shaping the organisation’s work on advocacy, campaigning and LGBT equality.
